FAQ about installing multiple receivers on 1 dish or multiple TV's on 1 receiver:

Q: I want to install 2 receivers.  What type of splitter do I need?

A: A satellite signal can not be split before it reaches the satellite receiver.  If you like to install two satellite receivers, you must use a dual LNB.  A dual LNBF installs on your satellite dish and two cables are ran from the LNB to your digital FTA receivers.  Check out the diagram below:

Dual LNB Diagram FTA Ku DSS FSS Receivers

Q: I want to install satellite on 3 or 4 satellite receivers.  What should I do?

A: There are two different ways of installing satellite on three or four receivers.  Option #1 below is recommended over option #2.  It may cost a few extra dollars for option #1, but the two parts work independently and can be modified in any way.

     1.  You can use a 3X4 multi switch along with a dual LNB.  You MUST use a dual LNBF when you install a multi switch.  Otherwise, you will only receive channels that broadcast on Vertical or Horizontal transponders.  See below for the 3X4 multi switch installation. (Check out our multi-switch section) If you are NOT using an antenna or cable source, you do not need to use the diplexers shown in the diagram.

3X4 Multi Switch Diagram

     2.  You can use a quad LNBF.  Basically, same as dual LNB installation above, but not recommended.  Option #1 above is much more recommended.

Q: I want to install my satellite system on two TV's, but don't want to have a second receiver.  What should I do?

A: You can use a splitter.  Yes, you can use a splitter on a satellite system ONLY when the satellite signal has gotten processed and decompressed through the satellite receiver.  See diagram below.  Take into consideration that when you run any signal through a splitter, you will have some loss.  You will also only be able to watch the same programming as the master (1st) TV.

Single LNB Single Receiver Two TV's Diagram

Q: Does this receiver accept access cards?

A: No.  A Free To Air receiver does not need to have the function of accepting access cards because the need for an access card is to subscribe to channels that are scrambled or encrypted.

** Tip **

Does your picture scroll and black and white?  This problem happens when you accidently change the settings of the receiver to operate with a PAL TV rather than a NTSC TV.  To fix this problem, simply use the remote control and press the PAL/NTSC button right below the #9 button.  Then keep on pressing the V+ or V- button on the remote control until the channel stops scrolling and picture turns from black and white to color.  Then press the Exit button and enjoy!

Does your receiver erase the channels when you enter the antenna setup screen?  Instead of pressing the OK/List button to go to the right side of the screen, use the green setup button.  When you press OK/List, the satellite receiver thinks you are doing a brand new installation, so it erases all the channels and any transponders you may have programmed in the receiver.  When you press green button for setup, the receiver knows you are just entering to update either LNB LO frequencies or to update transponder frequency, symbol rate, or polarity.
